Benview Terrace, Fishcross
New-build family home in Fishcross, Clackmannanshire
This contemporary new-build home in Fishcross was designed to create a strong connection between architecture, landscape and family life.
The house combines clean, modern forms with a warm and natural palette of materials. Pale timber cladding is contrasted with dark metalwork and generous areas of glazing, giving the elevations a crisp contemporary character while allowing the building to sit comfortably within its garden setting. A restrained palette and carefully considered proportions bring coherence to the different elements of the house.
Internally, the accommodation is organised around a series of light-filled, open-plan spaces with strong visual connections to the garden. Large areas of glazing and strategically positioned rooflights bring natural light deep into the plan, while the kitchen, dining and living areas flow naturally into one another and out towards the external terrace.
Natural materials provide warmth and texture throughout the interior. Timber flooring and a bespoke oak staircase are complemented by substantial stone feature walls, including a central fireplace which forms a focal point within the main living space. The stonework continues through the stair hall, creating a visual thread between the principal areas of the house and contrasting with the simplicity of the surrounding finishes.
Throughout the project, contemporary detailing is balanced with tactile materials and carefully considered features. This continues into the bathrooms, where rich glazed tiles, natural stone finishes, warm metal fittings and bespoke cabinetry introduce colour and character.
The completed house is a modern, comfortable family home that combines generous natural light, strong connections to the outdoors and a simple palette of timber, stone and metal to create spaces that feel both contemporary and welcoming.
