Award-winning architects in Stirling
Nicholas Lindsay Architects are award-winning architects in Stirling. Our studio is small, design focused, and we work throughout Stirling and surrounding areas.
Our projects are composed in a contemporary Scottish style, taking inspiration from traditional Scottish architecture. Careful consideration is given to our clients’ budget, aspirations, and the surrounding Stirling context. Our work celebrates beautiful materials, careful detailing, and the environment.
Sustainability at the heart of our work
We are committed to quality and sustainable design, using natural, high-performing materials, which are often sourced locally to Stirling. We consider the role of environmental conditions, and how they can inform the way we use space. Stirling, like the rest of Scotland suffers from low lying sun through large parts of the year. We use solar diagrams to place windows correctly, incorporate external covered areas to stop overheating in the summer months and prevent solar glare in the winter months.
A service-focused approach
We are focused on promoting a better way of living through design. We care about delivering a first-class service to our clients in Stirling and strive to achieve buildings of the highest quality. Our experience and understanding of working in Stirling are invaluable whether you are looking to build a new home or extend your existing family home. Partnering with Nicholas Lindsay Architects will enable you to create the home of your dreams, a place for family and friends to enjoy for many years to come.
Experienced local architects
We have extensive experience of working in Stirling and surrounding areas, including award-worthy projects in Dunblane, Perth, Dollar, Bridge of Allan and Stirling city centre. We live in Dunblane, and have undertaken significant renovations and extended a small workers cottage into a 3-bedroom family home. Our team in Stirling incorporate the latest technological advancements in 3D computer aided design, using Autodesk Revit for all our projects, whether big or small. This software is invaluable in helping our clients appreciate and understand the design, from the outset.
Hand-picked local builders and trades
We work with a small number of carefully selected builders, local to Stirling. This enables us to develop good and long-lasting working relationships and allows them to become familiar with our style. Finding a builder is often one of the most difficult tasks in construction, however our team in Stirling can help you find the right builder for your project.
Frequently asked questions
The number of varying job titles with an architect can be misleading. An actual architect will be registered with the ARB, it is good to make sure of this at the outset to ensure you are getting a professional working to a professional code of conduct.
There are then several factors to think about when choosing an architect:
-
Do you want an architect to draw exactly what you have in mind, or do you need someone that is more created. At Nicholas Lindsay Architects, we encourage our clients to let architects do their job – which is ultimately to design. It is however a collaborative effort between everyone but simply asking your architect to draw your idea is missing out on great potential.
-
Do you want a partial of full service? Not all architects will be able to provide a full-service including contract administration and site work.
-
Do want an architect with experience of working on small renovations or a large new build house?
-
Do you want an architect with experience of working with traditional buildings?
Once you have made a shortlist of architects in Stirling it is a good idea to meet each of them on site to discuss your project in more detail. This will help the architect gain a greater understanding of your project but also help you get to know the architect. This is your home so it is essential to choose someone that you can trust and who understands exactly what you are looking to achieve.
Having met with the architects, they will likely provide you with a quotation for their services. It is good to get at least 3 quotations for any work but remember that the cheapest is not always the most cost-effective option in the long run.
