Replacement extension to mid-century converted bungalow
Our client's brief was to create a contemporary open plan space suitable for modern family living. During our initial site visit we noticed the natural sloping contours of the garden and decided to use this to our advantage. We therefore proposed creating a stepped plan with a sunken snug area, the main kitchen and dining would be at the same level as the house. Although the space is open plan this recessed area helps to zone the space along with the careful placement of the rooflights over.
Externally we proposed a simple material palette of smooth white render and timber cladding to create a contemporary finish with clean, crisp lines. Full height floor to ceiling glazing floods the space with natural light and provides 'inside-out' living.
